Guj Anti-Terrorist Squad inspector booked
Vadodara, July 21: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has seized disproportionate assets worth over Rs 41 lakh following raids in the houses of a high- profile Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) inspector, Natwarsinh Rathod.
ACB sleuths, who conducted simultaneous raids at three places in Vadodara and Ahmedabad yesterday, also seized several incriminating documents and sealed two bank accounts of the tainted inspector.
According to ACB inspector B H Surti, a case of disproportionate assets had been registered against Rathod. The accused would be arrested soon after the investigations were complete, Surti said.
Rathod, who had earlier served as inspector in Vadodara crime branch and in Ellisbridge police station at Ahmedabad, was recently transferred to the Anti-Terrorist Squad at Ahmedabad.
But he came under scanner after an alleged arm smuggler Navrang Singh alias Ranga levelled corruption charges against Rathod.
Rathod was reportedly present when police raided his Mangalya Park residence in the city. Raids were also conducted at his son Digvijaysinh's pharmacy in the posh Raopura area and his Ellisbridge flat in Ahmedabad.
During investigations it was revealed that Rathod had also acquired illegal wealths, including a house in Ahmedabad, a factory in the name of his daughter Sonal at Himmatnagar and huge landed property at his native village Santwada in Sabarkantha district.
A detailed investigation was on to trace out all disproportionate assets of the inspector, sources said.
