Govt to urge PM for AIBP package on micro irrigation
Hyderabad, July 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said he would urge Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to consider a package under Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) to increase micro irrigation capacity during his visit to the state on July 31.
Reviewing the progress of micro irrigation projects with ministers and officials here, Dr Reddy said the government proposed to construct 12,673 tanks under INDIRAMMA Programme to stabilise an ayacut of 9.47 lakh acre at an estimated cost of Rs 1,219 crore, a release said here.
The government had drafted an action plan for the next three years for an ayacut of 6.14 lakh acre costing Rs 1,282 crore, it added.
