Four girls drown in pond in Karnataka

Raichur, Karnataka, July 21 (UNI) Four girls today drowned in a pond in Mamididoddi in the district.

Superintendent of Police B A Padmanayana said the girls had taken their cows for grazing when one of them slipped and fell into the pond.

The other three, who tried to rescue their friend, also drowned one by one.

The deceasad were identified as Yellamma (11), Narasimhamma, Chilakamma and Jyothi (all 12).

The bodies were later recovered.
