FIR against UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other leaders

New Delhi, July 21 (UNI) A city court today heard an argument on an application filed by a lawyer to register an FIR against UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for ''bribing the electoral college for the Presidential poll'' by hosting a party as also against her guests Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat and CPI leader A B Bardhan, among others.

Ravindra Kumar, a lawyer and also the National President of Rashtriya Mukti Morcha had filed the complaint in the Patiala House Court saying that they have committed an offence under Section 171 C/34 of the Indian Penal Code. Ms Gandhi had held the party in Hotel Ashok on July 17.

Mr Kumar had also filed a complaint before the Chief Election Commissioner regarding the registration of an FIR against Ms Pratibha Patil claiming that she had committed an offence under Section 171(1), 120 B of the Indian Penal Code.

Metropolitan Magistrate, Sanjay Bansal partially heard the argument on the application and adjourned it for further argument till July 24.
