CJ calls upon lawyers to act as per their conscience

Udupi, July 21 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph today called upon the lawyers to act according to their conscience and commit themselves for the welfare of the comman man, who approach the courts for justice, without giving too stress to their personal gains.

Inaugurating the construction works of the second stage of Udupi district court complex at the cost of Rs 90 lakh here, Justice Joseph said the lawyers should never set hurdles for the development activities of the courts.

He said the judges, lawyers and administration should work in tandem for the development of courts in the state.

Karnataka High Court Justice and Karnataka State Legal Services Authority Chairman V Gopalagowda said the state government had released Rs 250 crore for the development of the courts in the state.

Medical Education Minister and district-in-charge Minister V S Acharya said Rs 1.90 crore-estimate had been prepared for the second and third stage expansion of the Udupi Court complex.

The government had already released Rs 90 lakh for the second phase work and the remaining fund would be released for the third phase, once the second phase work was completed.
