BMC expedites the process of makeover of schools

Mumbai, July 21 (UNI) The Education department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned the makeover of municipal schools and some important decisions in this regard were made in a recently conducted meeting.

These decisions are going to be implemented within next 30 days.

The said meeting was attended by the Standing Committee chairman Ravindra Waikar, Education Committee chairman Mangesh Satamkar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kishore Gajbhiye, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Education) S S Shinde and other officials from the Education department.

An important decision to make 100 percent recruitment for all the posts of Mali-cum-watchman and Peon was made in this meeting.

Similarly, it was decided to expedite the process of distributing educational equipment already delivered by the supplier to the students, a release here today said.

Very soon all municipal schools will have water purifiers so that students can get clean and pure drinking water in schools. New toilets including separate toilets for girls will also be built in schools where there are no toilets.

A total budget provision of Rs 167 crore has been made for repairs of schools. Planning and execution of repairs will be made in such a way that the works are completed by March 31 next year. The administration is already making efforts to improve the quality of education in municipal schools and is supporting it with the infrastructural development to give a complete makeover to municipal schools, the release added.
