Bihar pradesh Congress congratulates Pratibha Patil

Patna, Jul 21 (UNI) Bihar Pradesh Congress today extended its heartiest congratulations to Ms Pratibha Patil on her becoming the country's first woman President.

Congratulating Ms Patil after her election to the country's highest post, Bihar Congress spokesman and former Minister Vijay Shankar Dubey in a statement said the huge margin of her wictory was itself a testimony to her popularity among the electorate.

She was elected as the 13th President of the country after a long political career, spanning more than five decades during which she had proved time and again her leadership acumen, Mr Dubey said and also thanked party President Sonia Gandhi for reposing confidence in her.

Criticising the role of the NDA in the Presidential poll, he said despite all out attempts they had failed miserably to keep their flocks together as well as preventing the Legislators from cross voting in favour of the winning candidate.

Mr Dubey also ridiculed the role of the Third Front, particularly that of the AIADMK, for suddenly deciding to vote in favour of NDA -backed Independent candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
