Be prepared to go it alone: Munde tells party workers
Pune, July 21 (UNI) Taking a dig at its alliance partner Shiv Sena, BJP leader Gopinath Munde asked partymen to begin thinking of going it alone in the future.
Addressing partyworkers and office bearers of the division, Munde wondered about the partnership, ''What kind of alliance partner do we have who support UPA candidate Pratibha Patil for the President's post and talk of supporting NCP President Sharad Pawar for the Prime Minister's post?'' Earlier, BJP state unit chief Nitin Gadkari asked partyworkers to refrain from 'calculations' about the BJP-Sena alliance, some that were out of political compulsion. The decision on the alliance will be taken, but now the focus should be to increase our voters base, Gadkari said.
''We must have confidence, if Mayawati can reach her position in one and half years so can we in Maharashtra,'' he said adding that intially when BJP started, they were better off in terms of numbers than the Shiv Sena.
The BJP leadership has maintained that a review of the Sena-BJP alliance will be taken and the matter discussed only after the Presidential poll.
