Badal disburses grant of more than Rs one crore in 8 villages

Malout, Jul 21 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today disbursed a grant of more than Rs one crore to people in eight villages of Lambi constituency under various welfare schemes.

He visited the villages of Kandu-Khera Dhani Telian, Bheeti-Wala, Tarmala, Khema-Khera, Bhai-Ka-Khera, Balauch-Khera and Mahni-Khera under 'Sangat Darshan' programme to redress the grievances of general public and disbursed the cheques for the amount.

Addressing the public at different places, the Chief Minister said that schemes for the welfare of dalits and other poor sections of the society would be implemented fully.

He said the Government had involved people at grass root level in the development- oriented programmes through the platform of 'Sangat Darshan'. Every work was being carried out according to the demands and requirements of a common man, he said.

The Chief Minister said that bureaucracy would be made accountable and responsive to the needs of the people.

Mr Badal said that he could well understand the problems and hardships being faced by rural people and added he was trying to provide maximum benefits to them through execution of development projects like revamping of existing power distribution system, lining up of water courses, construction of new drains to tackle the problem of water-logging , World Bank sponsored water works scheme and other state and central sponsored development programmes.

He said that paucity of funds would not be allowed to hamper the timely completion of all these works.

The Chief Minister met large number of people in every village and sorted out most of their problems on the spot. He deputed officers of the concerned department to resolve the remaining problems of the people in a time bound manner.
