Badal appeals to call off proposed Nangal bandh

Chandigarh , July 21 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today appealed to people to call off their proposed bandh at Nangal tomorrow, saying he would approach the Bhakra Beas Management Board on the issue of a opening of Khareta Railway crossing in the area.

In a statement here, he said the State Government was fully alive to the situation as this railway crossing had been causing a lot of inconvenience to the local residents who had to travel extra distance of 8-10 Kms as an alternative route.

Mr Badal appealed to Mr Avinash Khanna, BJP MP, and people of the area not to take agitational path and call off their proposed bandh over the issue tomorrow.
