Guwahati, July 21 (UNI) A new borne, reportedly stolen by a childless couple, was recovered by police in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh today.

Police said the infant was found from the house of Sabro Kumar and Shakuntala Devi at Rajgarh tea estate.

The baby was born to a Rajgarh couple- Suresh Mahato and Raj Kumari- at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) on June 24 but after three days later it was found to be 'missing' from the hospital's baby room.

The duo visited Raj Kumari again the next day, and clinching the first chance they took away her baby from the room.

Police said the duo might have lifted the baby because they didn't had any.

The infant was first kept at a friend's place, and later Sabro and Shakuntala took the baby to their residence.

Medical tests confirmed that the baby was that of Suresh and Raj Kumari.

Police handed over the baby to its parents at the Dibrugarh court today.

Meanwhile, police today recovered the body a new borne at a tea estate in Barbarua in Dibrugarh.

The infant was wrapped in newspaper and kept hidden in the bushes of a tea garden. Investigation was on.
