Three killed in Asom blast
Kokrajhar, July 20 (UNI) Suspected ULFA and KLO militants exploded a bomb at Srirampur near the Asom-Bengal border today, killing four people, including a minor, and injuring eleven, eight of them critically.
Police said the explosive was kept in a cycle parked near a bus stand at Srirampur Chariali in Kokrajhar district, which exploded at around 1055 hrs.
Two people - Abdul Mazid and Munna Shah - died on the spot, while a four-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at the Kokrajhar civil hospital.
Three of the injured were referred to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, while four others admitted at the Kokrajhar hospital were said to be in serious condition.
The police suspected the hand of ULFA and Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) in the incident.
However, no outfit had claimed responsibility so far.
Srirampur is a commercial hub as well as the entry point to the North East from West Bengal. It is actually the main link to the rest of India and during the time of blast more than 3500 trucks were there.
The army and police personnel rushed to the spot and the area was cordoned off.
Investigation was on.
