Jewelleries worth Rs 72 lakhs recovered from locker of IAS officer
Patna, July 19 (UNI) A team of Special Unit of Vigilance (SUV) today recovered Rs 2.58 lakhs in cash and gold worth Rs 72 lakhs from the locker of an IAS officer of Bihar cadre S S Verma, who was earlier placed under suspension for allegedly acquiring assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Official sources said here that Rs 2.58 lakhs was recovered during the search of the locker of Mr Verma at Sheikhpur branch of Allahabad Bank in Patna.During the search operation, gold jewelleries, coins and biscuits and 1 Kg of silver worth Rs 72.89 lakhs were recovered, sources added.
Earlier, a team SUV had raided the residence of Mr Verma in Patna and his ancestral residence in Garhwa under Nangraj police station in Luncknow.
During the drive, residences of their relatives in Katihar and other places were also searched on July 6, 2007.A case in this connection was registered against Mr Verma and was placed under suspension on July 13.
