Three infants die due to malnutrition in Aarey Colony

Mumbai, July 19 (UNI) Three infants died due to malnutrition in Aarey Colony at Powai here.

The infants, who died two days back, were aged between 6 months and 18 months.

According to Ashok Khandwe, a local resident, each and every house in the region has at least one malnourished child and adequate steps should be taken by the authorities for their survival.

The Aarey colony has in all 943 houses and more than 7,500 people live in the area. Aarey colony houses 27 paadas or areas where a sizeable number of adivasis live.

The adivasis living in the area catch crabs, snakes and cut grass to earn a living.
