Left parties to organise hunger strikes from July 22 in AP
Hyderabad, July 19 (UNI) Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Part of India(Marxist)(CPI(M) today announced that they would organise relay hunger strikes from July 22 in Hyderabad and from July 23 in the districts, demanding that the state government implement the recommendations of K Ranga Rao Land Committee and distribute lands and house sites to the poor.
According to a press release here, the CPI State Secretary K Narayana and CPI(M) State Secretary BV Raghavulu alleged that the Government was not sincere in implementing the Committee reccomendations.
The Government instead, was resorting to cheap gimmicks by criticising the Left Front Government in West Bengal to divert the attention on land issue in the State, they added.
The Left had decided to launch hunger strikes to pressurise the Government for the settlment of long-pending demands, the release added.
