Bhopal Police appeals against Monica's acquittal
Bhopal, July 19 (UNI) City police today appealed in the District and Sessions Court against the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) acquitting underworld don Abu Salem's starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi in a fake passport case.
The plea, submitted in Judge Renu Sharma's court by Advocate H L Jha, alleged that the lower court turned Nelson'e eye on documents.
Pointing out that fake passports -- in which Salem, his wife Samira Jumani and Monica used the assumed names Danish Baig, Rubina Baig and Fauzia Osman respectively -- had been found, the petition wondered how Monica could be acquitted.
August 8 was set as the next date of hearing.
CJM Ajay Shrivastav acquitted Monica on July 16.
