3 militants, 4 OGWs arrested, arms haul in Kashmir

Srinagar, July 19 (UNI) The Army today claimed to have apprehended three militants, four Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and seized huge cache of arms from various places in the Kashmir valley.

A defence spokesman said troops of 30 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) apprehended two militants from Shatgund area in Kupwara district following specific information.

They have been identified as Tariq Ahmed Mir, S/o Khazar Mohammed Mir and Javed Ahmed Bukhari.

Both were affiliated with the Hizbul Mujahideen, he added.

In another incident, the spokesman said 29 RR personnel apprehended a militant and two OGWs.

They have been identified as Shabir Ahmed Bhatt, Shabir Ahmed Mir and Shahbaz Khan.

In the third incident, the spokesman said troops of 28 RR apprehended one OGW from Shumarial in Kupwara district.

From Bandipora, he said 57 RR personnel apprehended one OGW. He was identified as Samee Ahmed Wani, he added.

Based on specific information, the spokesman said 313 Field Regiment carried out a search in General Area Baba Rishi and Ningli Nala near Gulmarg and seized one AK rifle, two AK magazines, 79 round of AK ammunition, one 8 mm Rifle, two rifle magazines, eight rifle ammunition, two plastic explosive sticks, two detonators, five hand grenades and other war-like stores.
