Rohtak to have institutes of art, fashion, Film and TV
Chandigarh, July 18 (UNI) A State Institute of Art, a State Institute of Fashion Design, a State Institute of Professional Studies for Women and a State Institute of Film and TV will be set up at Rohtak at a cost of Rs 60 crore.
All these institutes will start functioning at a common complex from the next academic session.
This was revealed in the first meeting of the Technical Institutional Society, Rohtak held under the chairmanship of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Technical Education) Ajit M Saran here today.
Mr Saran, who is also the Chairman of the Society, said that for assisting in the establishment of institutions, an Advisory Committee consisting of 10 experts from various disciplens had been constituted. Sub committees would also be constituted to ensure speedy completion of this project.
He said that it was felt that Northern region in general and Haryana state in particular lacked facilities in the areas of design and fashion technology, fine arts, film and TV, professional studies.
These institutions would be set up on the lines of College of Art, National Institute of Fashion and Technology in Chandigarh and Delhi and National Film and TV Institute of Pune, he added.
He said for setting up of these institutes, 22 acres of land had already been identified. The Haryana Urban Development Authority had agreed to allot this land for setting up the institutes.
These institutions, he said, would meet the requirement of the related industries and have intake capacity of about 8000 students.
Courses had been identified and initially, the degrees to the students would be provided by the Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak.
The other issues like exploring possibilities of tying up with other important National and International institutes were also discussed in the meeting.
Director Technical Education and Member Secretary of the Society M P Gupta, Rohtak Deputy Commissioner R S Doon, Dean Academic Affairs Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak Ishwar Singh, Joint Director Development Manish Jindal were also present in the meeting.
