Govt to protect interests of officers of undivided Bihar
Patna, July 18 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today assured of protecting the interests of public servants appointed in the government jobs as residents of undivided Bihar and said the government was mulling to amend the law for providing reservation facilities in promotion to such officers.
Replying to the allegations of the Opposition for violating the rules of reservations in promotions, Mr Kumar said in the state Assembly that the allegations were baseless.
He said the formalities for promotion of a particular officer about whom the Opposition members made hue and cry on the floor of the House were underway in general category maintaining seniority list and not under any category reserved for scheduled caste or scheduled tribe.
Referring to the existing law for reservation in promotion, he said the law provide this facility only to those bonafide residents of Bihar.
Mr Kumar said his government was seeking legal opinion from the Advocate General of Bihar for providing reservation facilities in promotion to those appointed in government jobs in undivided Bihar as bonafide residents of the state.
He said if required the existing law could be amended.
