Welingkar to organise design workshop for corporate captains

Mumbai, July 17 (UNI) City-based management school Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WIDMR) today said it will organise a two-day workshop, 'Grow by Design', for corporate honchos and boardroom managers next month.

An announcement to this effect was made by WIMDR director Prof Dr Uday Salunke during a curtain raiser held here today.

A select group of 60 business leaders from a range of industries including retail, technology, agriculture and services will attend the workshop, to be held next month, at the ITC Grand Central.

Prof Salunke said ''Innovation is the key to growth and design is an integral part of innovation. A true differentiator, design has moved to the boardroom and has become integral to strategic planning. The process is beginning to take shape in India.'' As a business school that has its sights on future business drivers, Welingkar is making an attempt to create a chain of interactions and learning platforms that will bring about a culture of innovation and design in Indian corporations, he said.

He pointed out that 'Grow by Design' is the first such attempt in India of sharing the process of design integrated approach for organisational success. Welingkar will unfold this with the support of US-based design and innovation company IDEO to provide insights to Indian business community.

IDEO helps organisations innovate through design and uses its design-based approach to help clients navigate the speed, complexity and opportunity areas of today's world.

Established in 1977, the Pune-based S P Manadali Trust is the governing body of WIMDR. The trust manages 40 educational institutes in Maharashtra. Welingkar was among the first to be accredited.

Welingkar delivers programmes recognised by the AICTE, Government of India and University of Mumbai, apart from industry focused autonomous programmes and programmes with international collaboration.
