UHBVN earmarks Rs 74 crore for augmenting power supply

Rohtak, July 17 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has earmarked a sum of Rs. 74 crore for setting up new 33 KV sub-station, augment capacity of the existing sub stations, erection of new 33 KV lines and providing High Tension Capacitors during the current financial year.

It was stated by Mr Deepender Singh Hooda, MP, while inaugurating a 33KV substation at Sector 6, here today. The substation, constructed at a cost of 1.5 crore, will benefit about 5900 consumers of 15 residential colonies of the town by way of better voltage and continuity of power supply.

He said that the Nigam had made a comprehensive capital expenditure plan to spend a sum of Rs. 677.20 crore during the current financial year to further strengthen the transmission and distribution network of Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonipat, Jind, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Yamuna Nagar, Panchkula and Ambala districts.

Giving details, he said that Rs 257 crore would be spent on release of connections to the people living below poverty line and allied 11 KV lines, low tension lines and erection of new lines with Aerial Bunched Cable (ABC), installation of new distribution transformers with meters. It had been planned to segregate the load of 725 existing 11 KV level feeders supplying power to rural areas at a cost of Rs. 218 crore. It will benefit 3619 villages and most of the work would be completed up to December.

He said that the Nigam also plans to supply power to consumers through under ground transmission and distribution network in Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Deveopment Corporation or Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) sectors for which Rs. 54 crore have been earmarked.

The Nigam had decided to erect ABC lines in coming HUDA sectors and supply power through High Voltage Distribution System. The construction work to supply electricity through underground system as a pilot project in the Rohtak town at a cost of Rs 18 crore in recent past has been started, he added.

Referring to erection of High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) and Low Voltage Distribution System (LVDS), he further stated that the work would be completed in 540 urban colonies and villages during the year at a cost of Rs. 48 crore.

The Nigam had also planned to bifurcate or trifurcate lengthy and heavily overloaded feeders in urban and rural areas under the NABARD schemes at a cost of Rs. 3 crore. He further stated that the Nigam had also fixed a target of bringing down the present Amalgamated Transmission and Commercial (AT&C) losses to 36 per cent from the existing 40 per cent during the year 2007-08 for which the distribution system would be strengthened at the grass root level.

Referring to the complaints of the local residents, he said, the unauthorized colonies would be authorised to make them available all the basic amenities for which their approval is being pursued.

Efforts were on to provide hundred per cent sewerage and water supply system for the residents of Rohtak, he added.
