Tenable's MoU to offer India's 1st Instructional Design prog

Hyderabad, July 17 (UNI) Technology Enabled Learning Solutions Pvt Ltd (TENABLE), the Hyderabad-based integrated e-Learning solutions provider, and Philadelphia University, USA have entered into an MoU for starting India's first Certificate Programme in Instructional Design in E Learning.

The MoU envisages setting up jointly the state-of-the-art training facilities for manpower required for the e-Learning industry, Tenable CEO CV Chandra Shekhar and Dr Timothy C McGee, Director of School of Design and Media, Philadelphia University, USA announced at a media conference here today.

The Certificate Programme in Instructional design in e-Learning, which Philadelphia University will offer for the first time in India, is not available anywhere. The 12-week virtual training programme is the ''first ever exhaustive programme in Instructional Design made available'', they said.

''This is just a pilot programme that will accommodate only 25 students from all over India. The expert faculty from Philadelphia University will conduct the programme. Once proved successful, this course will be offered thrice in a year,'' they said.

The programme will provide 100 per cent placement and the course will begin from September 17, 2007, they added.

E-Learning is the marriage of technology and education. The role of Instructional Designers is vital for e-learning module to be effective.

As India is a major player in the global Knowledge and E-Learning, many global majors have outsourced e-learning from India. Currently Indian offshoring market for e-Learning is estimated to be USD 500 million, where as the global market size is USD 150 billion. India today boasts of about 2000 untrained instructional designers, while there is a demand for about 15000 professionals.

''We need thousands of Instructional Designers, if our share in Off-shore e-learning business is to grow from the current level of USD 500 million,'' they added.
