SAC to celebrate "Raising Day" on July 20

Thiruvananthapuram, July 17: The Southern Air Command (SAC) of the Indian Air Force will celebrate its 23rd ''Raising Day'' on July 20.

The 23rd ''Raising Day'' of the SAC, which was formed on July 20, 1984, assumes added significance as it falls in the Platinum Jubilee year of the IAF.

Besides actively participating in major air operations in Sri Lanka and Kargil, the SAC had also undertaken many relief operations.

During Tsunami evacuation and relief operations, the SAC had made outstanding contributions, not only in the southern states of the country but also in Andaman and Nicobar islands, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Various functions and programmes are being organised as part of the celebrations, an official release said today.
