Rane demands disqualification of Ramdas Kadam
Mumbai, July 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane today demanded the disqualification of Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Ramdas Kadam on the grounds of misusing his position as member of the Lower House.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr Rane notrd that MPs, including two from Maharashtra, were expelled in the 'cash-for query' scam.
''But, Mr Kadam goes further than just asking questions. He asked a question about corruption charges of a PWD executive engineer in Satara district on February this year and withdrew the question in May. This surely has not happened without any irregularities,'' he alleged.
Mr Rane charged that this was not for the first time that the Leader of opposition had behaved in this manner. There have been complaints of threat calls and demand for money.
''I have adequate proof and Kadam can lose his membership. Kadam has also accepted that he withdrew the question,'' Mr Rane added.
Mr Rane said he has already made a demand for the Opposition leader's disqualification on the floor of the House and it is upto the Speaker to take a decision. Replying to a question, he denied that his statement was removed from proceedings by the Speaker.
