Rajdeep, Ritu bag Journalist of the Year awards

New Delhi, July 17: CNN-IBN Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai and senior journalist from Indian Express Ritu Sarin today bagged one of the country's top media awards in broadcast and print categories, respectively.

Rajdeep Sardesai won the prestigious Journalist of the Year award in the broadcast media category while Ritu Sarin received the honour in the print category at a function here where President APJ Abdul Kalam gave away the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards 2006-07.

Rajdeep Sardesai was awarded for leading the new news channel that had covered all major news events of the year, especially political reportage, very well. And Ritu Sarin was recognised for consistently reporting all major news stories of the year ranging from Bofors and CBI's investigative lapses to New Militants of Punjab.

Four journalists from CNN-IBN and three from NDTV won awards while four Indian Express scribes were awarded in different categories.
