Power generation in Karnataka to be stepped up: Minister

Bangalore, July 17 (UNI) The Karnataka Government is taking all measures to increase the quantum of power generation by 3000 MW in the next four years, Energy Minister H D Revanna told the State Assembly today.

Replying to a query raised by Mr Dinesh Gundurao (Congress), he said the Government had initiated action to increase power generation in four years by taking up several power projects, which were in different stages of completion.

A 500 MW thermal power project at Bellary was nearing completion, he said, adding that the Government was likely to resort to limited load shedding to regulate power supply.

Power generation had been increased by 30 per cent in the last 30 months, the Minister said.

Mr Revanna said the availability of power per day from different sources, including from the State, was 112.23 million units for the current year.
