Parents of 'young medico' get bail
Tiruchirapalli, July 17 (UNI) The doctor-couple who were arrested for allegedly allowing their teenaged son to perform a Caesarean section on a woman at Manapparai here recently, was released from the Central Prison this evening, following a conditional bail granted by a Lower Court, after 22 days of incarceration.
A large number of journalists were present in the Central Prison premises when Dr K Murugesan and his wife Dr M Gandhimathy were released.
Talking to the reporters, Dr Murugesan, a surgeon, charged that they (his family members) were falsely implicated in the case. ''It is a case framed against us on a caste-based manner and we will meet the 'Press' shortly to give an explanation about the issue,'' he said.
Later, the couple drove to Manapparai, their home town.
It might be recalled that the doctor couple were charged with allowing their 15-year-old son M Dhileepan Raj - a non-medico to perform the surgery to enter Guinness Book of World Record, at Mathi Surgical and Maternity Hospital at Manapparai in the district in May last.
A high-level probe by the State Government had proved that the doctor-couple had committed the offence against the Indian medical ethics and norms. The police filed cases against them on various sections and put them behind bars on June 25.
Mr Raj was already released on bail by the Juvenile Justice Board, here.
