Pantaloons to open fitness centres across India

Mumbai, Jul 17 (UNI) Following the success of their fitness centre at Orchid City Centre, owner of Pantaloon Future Group and Talwalkars Better Value Fitness Pvt Ltd have jointly announced their intention to launch 50 fitness centres across the country today.

Under a new joint venture company called Talwalkars Pantaloon Fitness Pvt Ltd, 50 Talwalkars Fit&Fitness Active centres, each costing Rs 2 crore will launched in the next three years, a release here today said.

The centres will be 7,000 sq feet and will be located in shopping malls at prime locations with parking facilities and will be manned by fully-trained staff. They will all have state-of-the-art equipment and fitness regimes like aerobics, yoga and spin-cycling.

Retail outlets of fitness equipment and accessories, and juice bars will also be available over and above the centres.

The centres will open from 0600 hrs to 2200 hrs, with proper security staff and systems for the clientele.

Prashant Talwalkar, MD, Talwalkars Better Value Fitness Pvt Ltd said, ''We will soon be able to offer customers the best-in-class health and fitness facilities within shopping malls in all-tier I and most tier II cities in India.' To offer the best value, the annual membership fees will be pegged at Rs 10,000 with a number of discounts and incentives. For non-members, the facilities will be available at Rs 30 per day.

To meet the increasing demand of the Indian consumer who is expected to spend 6 per cent of his income on health, fitness and beauty, the JV also plans to expand further and launch Health Clubs with spas, swimming pools and gyms.

Both Future Group and Talwalkars Better Value Fitness Pvt Ltd are major players in their respective fields. Talwalkars is the country's largest chain of health care centres with over 1,00,000 members and 50 branches.

Future Group is a leading player in retail, finance, retail space, supply, retail media and brand management. It manages assets worth over USD 1 billion.

Its flagship company Pantaloon Retail has over 450 stores in 40 cities and its JV partners include Italian insurance major Generali, Staples-USA and UK-based Lee Cooper, the release added.
