Nikkei up 0.2 pc; Sony, other exporters gain

Tokyo, July 17: Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.17 per cent on Tuesday with Sony Corp. and other exporters rising after the U.S. Dow advanced on optimism about earnings at multinational companies.

The benchmark Nikkei average was up 30.41 points at 18,269.36.

The broader TOPIX index added 0.12 percent to 1,785.29.
