Nandighos,Chariot of Lord Jagannath reached Gundicha temple

Puri, Jul 17 (UNI) Nandighos, the chariot of Lord Jagannath reached its destination-the Gundicha temple today amid chanting of Haribol and Jai Jagannath by lakhs of devotees.

Pulling of the chariot was abandoned midway last evening after sunset due to poor light.

However the Taladhawaja, the Chariot of Lord Balabhadra and Darpadalan, the chariot of Devi Subhadra reached Gundicha temple last evening.

The three deities would be taken inside the Gundicha temple in a ceremonial procession called '' pahandi bije'' tomorrow and would remain in the temple till July 24, the return festival.

Like yesterday lakhs of devotees thronged both sides of the grand road to have a glimpses of the Lord of universe.

The three presidinbg deities yesterday were offered gopalbhog before being taken out of the Sanctum sanctorium of the Jagannath temple for their annual nine day sojourn.

The rolling down of the chariots began after King ofPuri Divyasingh Dev performed chherapahanra (cleaning of the chqariots by a golden broom)on all the three chariots.
