MPSC scam: Court to frame charges on August 22
Mumbai, July 17 (UNI) The special ACB court here will on August 22 frame charges against 27 persons, accused in the multi-crore MPSC scam.
Additional sessions judge M N Patale today directed all the accused to engage advocates as the court wanted to frame charges in the case on August 22.
On June 29, 2002, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) had unearthed the scam with the arrest of Sudharkar Sarode, the then Maharashtra Public Service Commission examination Controller.
The arrest was made following a complaint by then MPSC secretary Seema Dhamdhere about malpractices in the Commission.
A total of 27 persons have been arrested in this case, including former MPSC chairmen Dr S D Karnik and P D Wani, MPSC member Sayali Joshi, Mantralaya assistant Avinash Sanas, and others.
The ACB sleuth has already filed the chargesheet and five supplementary chargesheets.
