Meeting to discuss monsoon related diseases
Mumbai, Jul 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Government will soon convene a meeting of civic authorities and local people's representatives from the city to discuss the issue of Monsoon-related diseases.
This was indicated by Health Minister Dr Vimal Mundada in the Legislative assembly here today during a calling attention notice.
She said seven persons had died of Leptospirosis. As many as 1252 cases of Gaestro, 663 cases of Malaria, 96 cases of dengue were detected.
Two cases each of Leptospirosis were detected from KEM, Sion and Kasturba Hospitals here and treatment was being provided.
Replying to another calling attention noyice, Minister of state for school education Hassan Mushrif said 11.55 lakh students cleared the SSC examinations in October 2006 and March 2007. There are 9.6 lakh seats and 15 per cent of the students seek ITI and other vocational courses.
''So,there are adequate seats for the students. The problem is that students do not get colleges of their choice,''he said.
Members complained about shortage of divisions and Deputy Speaker Pramod Shende asked the Finance Minister Jayant Patil and Mr Mushrif to bring a proposal of more aided divisions in aided and unaided junior colleges within a week.
