Mass rape: After SP, Muslims demand dismissal of minister
Lucknow, July 17 (UNI) After the Opposition Samajwadi Party, a Muslim organisation today demanded sacking of a state minister for his alleged involvement in the much-hyped Shravasti mass rape case.
Members of the People's Democratic Forum (PDF) today staged a dharna at 'Dharna Sthal' opposite the Vidhan Bhawan building, demanding the dismissal of Minister of State for Ayuravedic (independent charge) Dadan Mishra, from the Mayawati ministry, following his brothers' alleged involvement in Shravasti mass rape case on July 10 last.
The organisation also demanded a judicial probe by a siting judge of the High Court into the incident.
PDF president Salahuddin Khan claimed that police deliberately failed to act as the minister's kin were involved in the incident at village Dhannidih in Shravasti district.
Yesterday, the SP had alleged that at least 15 women have confessed before them that they were raped and paraded naked in the village by a mob led by Ajay and Alok, brothers of minister Dadan Mishra.
The trouble had reportedly started on July 7 when a girl of the nearby Brahmin community eloped with a muslim boy of Dhannidih village.
