JK: Major infiltration bid foiled, 4 militants dead
Srinagar, July 17: Troops foiled a major infiltration bid when they gunned down four heavily armed militants in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir this morning.
A defence ministry spokesman told sources that troops of 23 Rajput, guarding the Line of Control (LoC ) at Bandi, Rampur in Uri sector, noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) under the cover of darkness.
He said when challenged and asked to surrender, they opened indiscriminate firing. Troops retaliated and in the fierce encounter four militants were killed.
The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, he added.
