Landline, broadband, mobile services affected in parts of Kolkata
Kolkata, July 17 (UNI) Landline, mobile and broadband services were affected in several parts of Kolkata today as a fire broke out in the Telephone Bhavan.
Fire brigade sources said six engines fought for an hour to extinguish the fire that broke out in the battery room in the fourth floor of the building.
The fire affected the BSNL power plant, but there were no reports of casualty.
BSNL Landline lines in several areas, including those at the city's police headquarters in Lal Bazar, and the broadband services were affected following the fire.
Calcutta Telephones Chief General Manager S Chakraborty said the power plant had been shut down and it would take few hours for restoration of normalcy in services.
The reason of the fire was, however, yet to be ascertained.
