Key fake stamp case accused admits allegations
Chennai, July 17 (UNI) A key accused in the fake stamp paper scam and close associate Abdul Karim Telgi, the brain behind the scam, today admitted the allegations levelled against him before a CBI court.
Sarfraz, the fourth accused in the multi crore scam, who was lodged in a Karnataka jail and was produced before the court, told CBI Judge Velu that he was admitting the charges of conspiracy, counterfeiting, cheating and forgery levelled against him.
After recording it, the Judge adjourned the matter to July 26.
The Judge said a letter written by the key accised Telgi to Madras High Court Chief Justice A P Shah stating that charges should not be framed through video conferencing and that he should be personally present in the court, was referred to this court.
The judge said the Chief Justice had forwarded the letter to him and that he would consider it.
Telgi is at present lodged in a prison in Pune.
The other accused, Nizamuddin and Abdul Wahid, who were lodged in Pune Jail along with Telgi, also told the court through their counsel that the charges should not be framed through video conferencing and that the court should pass orders for their personal appearance.
When Sarfraz's counsel filed a petition that he was brought to the court handcuffed, which was violative of supreme court order, CBI counsel Daniel Raj sought two day's time to file a counter after which the judge adjourned the case.
