TN CM to inaugurate 530 MLD water treatment plant

Chennai, July 17: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will inaugurate the 530 MLD water treatment plant at Chembarambakkam, near here, on July 19.

The proposed water treatment plant would be the second largest in the country, an official release here said.

Water would be drawn from Chembarambakkam lake, one of the main water sources of the city, and after treatment, it would be supplied to the city without affecting the water required for irrigation.

Water supply from Chembarambakkam lake would help maintain the present level of supply to the city till the onset of the North East monsoon in October, the statement added.
