Haryana govt prepares waste management schemes

Chandigarh, July 17 (UNI) The Haryana Government has prepared a detailed project report for implementing waste management schemes costing Rs 119.59 crore for the towns of Faridabad, Rohtak, Karnal and Indiri(Karnal) .

The was stated by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today while presiding over a meeting where presentations regarding water supply and management and solid waste management were made.

The Chief Miniser revealed that the detailed project had been forwarded to the Union Ministry of Urban Development for its approval. He said National Building Construction Corporation had prepared a detailed project report costing Rs 83.13 crore for implementation of waste management scheme in Faridabad.

While giving the details of the waste management scheme to be implemented in Faridabad, it was informed in the meeting that a sum of Rs 18.28 crore would be earmarked for transportation of waste material. Another sum of Rs 7.58 crore would be for compost processing facilities, including automobiles, Rs 6. 31 crore for basic infrastructure facilities at waste receiving processing sites and processing site development machine.

Similarly, a sum of Rs 13.33 crore has also been earmarked for sanitary land filling.

Commissioner and Secretary, Urban Development P K Gupta said a detailed project report for constructing Integrated Solid Waste Management Project at Rohtak costing Rs 19.88 crore had also been submitted to the Union Ministry of Urban Development under Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. He said similarly integrated solid waste management project of Karnal and Indri Municipal committees had been submitted to the Ministry.

Those present in the meeting included Public Health and Transport Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala, Minister of State for Urban Development Savitri Jindal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister M L Tayal and other senior officials.
