H C orders hospitals to comply with conditions of concessions

New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) Delhi High Court today came down heavily on the hospitals who have got prime land in the capital at concessional rates and are still not complying with the conditions of the concession land allotment clause of giving free treatment to poor people.

Justice R S Sodhi and Justice H R Malhotra made it clear that any hospital not complying with the High Court orders will have to face serious consequences.

Earlier hospitals like Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Mool Chand Khairati Ram Trust Hospital, Sunder Lal Jain Charitable hospital, R B Jessa Ram hospital, Khosla Medical institute and research centre, Rockland hospital had said that they do not fall under the category of such hospitals who have to follow these land allotment rules but it was clarified to them that all the hospitals which have been granted land at concessional rates will give free treatment to the poor patients.

Delhi High Court directed the government of Delhi to clarify its stand to all these hospitals to follow the norms else face the consequenses.

The court included the name of Dr Ashok Rana, Medical Superintendent (hospitals), Goverment of Delhi in the inspection committee constituted by the court earlier.

Earlier the inspection committee had three members comprising Medical Superintendent of Ram Manohar Lohia hospital and two lawyers Ashok Agarwal and Maninder Acharya.

The court directed the committee to ensure proper implementation of the court orders.
