Green Delhi: DTL to plant over one lakh trees
New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) In an effort to make the capital greener, power provider Delhi Transco Limited has earmarked 1,04,630 sq.
meter of land at its various sub-stations for planting trees.
In all over one lakh saplings would be planted during the 'Grow More Trees' campaign launched today by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, an official statement said.
Besides, Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd, a sister concern of DTL, has also earmarked 3,475 sq. meter land for this purpose. It will plant approximately 16,000 trees during the campaign.
Both type of trees and plants, with or without height restrictions will be roped.
The main trees and shrubs to be planted during the campaign includes Sheesham, Papri, Neem, Peepal, Bargad (Banyan), Alistomia, Bottle brush, Gulmohar, Pikhan, Jamun, Silver Oak, Amaltas, Arjun, Fiocus Panda, Ficus, Molshri, Guava, Pomegranate, Ashoka Pendula, Largistomia Thorilli, Largistomia Indica, Bougenvalia, Kanner, Hibiscus and Calendera etc.
