Govt to depute panel on Wakf Board complaints: Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, July 17 (UNI) Kerala Local Self Government Minister Paloli Muhammed Kutty today informed the State Assembly the government had deputed a committee to enquire into complaints against the Wakf Board.
The decision was taken following complaints received by the government directly from the public on the board's functioning, he said in a written reply to Mr M A Wahid (Cong) and others.
Mr Kutty also said the government had decided to send a delegation under the Haj Committee Chairman demanding the Centre release a special Haj quota to the state immediately after the draw of lots.
The government found as many as 6,133 people did not get a chance for Haj last year. Hence, it was decided to give permission to them this year for the pilgrimage, he added.
