Govt, Oppn blame each other for Assembly adjournment
Hyderabad, July 17 (UNI) Without transacting any official business, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for the day today as the Opposition Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) stormed the House pressing for an immediate discussion on the implementation of the 'Sachar'committee recommendations.
After two brief adjournments, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy adjourned the House for the day as the TRS members continued to disrupt the proceedings demanding setting aside of regular business and adoption of a resolution by the Assembly on the issue and allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for the Muslim community welfare.
The ALL India Majilis-e-Ittehaadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) members also disrupted the proceedings to protest against the delay in conduting a judicial probe into the ''Mecca Masjid'' bomb blast.
After the House was adjourned, Government Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy, talking to mediapersons, attributed the lack of unity among opposition parties on prioritising issues for discussion to the adjournment of the House.
Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu termed as ''undemocratic'' the adjournment of the House and charged the Government with trying to avoid a discussion on ''buring issues'' concerning the public, including price rise, distribution of land to the poor, out of fear of getting exposed in the eyes of the public.
CPI floor leader Venkata Reddy and CPI(M) floor leader N Narasimhaiah, talking to mediapersons, found fault with the Government for not creating a conducive atmosphere for discussion on the land issue, by bringing into the agenda the report of the Sachar Committee, an issue concerning the Centre.
