Fresh batch of pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Jammu, July 17 (UNI) A fresh batch of around two thousand pilgrims left here today for the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in Kashmir valley.

As many as 1971 pilgrims, comprising 1406 men, 340 women, 83 children and 142 sadhus, left from the base camp of Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) stadium here around 0515 hrs, officials said here.

The pilgrims left in a fleet of 73 vehicles, including 42 buses, they said adding four security vehicles also escorted the pilgrims.

With today's batch, as many as 32,701 devotees from different parts of the country have left from here for the Pehalgam base camp in Anantnag district since the yatra's commencement on July 2.
