Former Haj panel chief gets India International award

Ahmedabad, July 17 (UNI) Former chairperson of Haj Committee Tanveer Ahmad was awarded 'Rashtriya Gaurav' award at the hands of Dr Bhishma Narain Singh, former governor of Assam and Tamil Nadu, at a function in New Delhi on July 11.

The award was given under the aegis of India International Friendship Society (IIFS), said a release here today.

Mr Ahmed was the chairperson of the Haj Committee till 2006 from 1999, when it was constituted.

The award was given in appreciation of his work as the chief of the Haj committee. IIFS had proposed his name for the award this year, the release added.
