Patna, Jul 17 (UNI) More than 25,000 people have been affected in at least 12 villages under Saraigarh-Bhaptiyahi block of Supaul district of North Bihar with heavy rain lashing several other parts of the state in the past couple of days.

Official sources said here today that the Kosi had already started flowing over the danger mark in different places, while the water level of eleven other major rainfed rivers, including the Ganges, Sone, Punpun, Ghaggar, Gandak, Budhi-Gandak, Bagmati, Kamlabalan and the Mahananda, had been increasing steadily though still flowing under the red mark.

Moreover, following heavy rain in several North Bihar districts several low-lying areas of Sitamarhi, Champaran, Madhubani, Darbhanga and Samastipur districts had been partially inundated forcing thousands of people to take shelter in high land.

Though there was no report of loss of any life so far, property and standing crops worth crores of rupees had been damaged.

Meanwhile, local administration in all the flood-battered areas had been alerted and asked to provide succour to the affected at the earliest.
