Five killed as train runs over auto rickshaw on a railway crossing

Aurangabad, July 17 (UNI) Five persons, three of a family, were killed on the spot and one was injured when the Hyderabad-Purna passenger train hit a six-seater auto rickshaw near Pangao railway crossing, about 300 km from here.

According to police sources, the accident was so severe that the auto rickshaw was dragged about 500 metre away from the railway crossing.

The auto rickshaw driver did not see the train while crossing the railway crossing as it was raining heavily at that time, and also due to lot of trees on both the sides of the tracks.

The passenger train, which was heading towards Purna from Hyderabad, at 1615 hrs yesterday, ran over the auto rickshaw that was coming to Pangao.

The deceased have been identified as Shivaji Kuntewad(30), Sheetal Shivaji Kuntewad(3), Govind Bharat Kuntewal(12), rickshaw driver Danyanoba Jadhav(25) and Baburao Jadhav(40).

However, Shankar Jadhav, who suffered severe injuries was admitted to Latur Civil Hospital, the sources added.
