Everyone must take part in President's election: Shinde

Gwalior, July 17 (UNI) Reacting to the Samajwadi Party's decision to abstain from presidential polls, Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today said everyone must exercise his franchise in a democracy.

Mr Shinde made the statement while talking to reporters after inaugurating 765 KV sub-station of Northwest Inter-connection Transmission System here.

''It is their personal matter. However, everyone must exercise their franchise in democracy,'' he said.

On whether the Congress would seek further alliance with the Shiv Sena after taking its support in the favour of UPA-Left nominee Pratibha Patil, Mr Shinde said it was for the Shiv Sena to decide.

Regarding various centrally-sponsored schemes being run after changing its name, he said a monitoring committee had been made for implementation of schemes such as the MPDRP and the Centre had received its report.

Besides, it would be mandatory to mention the name of the scheme wherever works are done under a particular scheme.
