ENSF calls for 48-hr eastern Nagaland bandh
Kohima, Jul 17 (UNI) The Eastern Naga Students' Federation (ENSF) has called for a 48-hour eastern Nagaland bandh from tomorrow against the state government for not providing jobs to six backward tribes.
ENSF social and cultural secretary T Rongli Sangtam today demanded 25 per cent reservation in state government jobs for the tribal people in Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire and Longleng districts.
''Despite repeated appeals, the state government did not pay heed to our demands. So we are compelled to call the strike. This is the first phase of our agitation,'' Mr Sangtam said.
All shops, business establishments, banks, state government offices and educational institutions would remain closed. No public vehicles would be allowed to move during the bandh.
