Drive against Blueline Buses and Autos to continue: Haroon

New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) Reiterating his commitment to safety on the roads, Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yousuf today said the state government would not tolerate indiscipline in the transport system, specially in blue line bus services.

Addressing newspersons here, Mr Yousuf said,''they (blue line buses) will have to follow traffic rules and regulation, maintain self discipline, regulate speed and clean up the buses.'' Stating that the enforcement drive of the state government would continue, Mr Yousuf said,''A total 2718 buses have been checked today only. A total of 295 buses have been impounded till date whereas 635 blueline buses have been challaned and 1230 challans are issued so far.'' He said the Transport department has impounded 165 buses for tempering with speed governors and 130 buses are impounded for other permit contravention.

Ninety five challans have been issued today against 50 blueline buses and 5 blueline buses impounded, 2 for tempering speed governor and 3 for other permit contravention.

Further, the Minister said, 642 autos have been checked and 191 challans issued against 108 auto rickshaws. Four autos have impounded today for overcharging, he added.
