Custodial death: 6 policemen suspended

Lucknow, July 17 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today suspended six policemen in a custodial death case of Sitapur district.

The victim, Ramu, allegedly committed suicide in police custody yesterday.

Official sources said here that Ramu was summoned by the Manpur police in connection of elopement case for recording the statements of both the parties.

However, Ramu went to the police station lavatory and hanged himself.

Those suspended included Manpur police station in-charge Sabhajit Singh, police sub inspector Mahesh Kumar Mishra, constables Santram, Madhuram Verma, Harichandra Verma and Kanta Prasad.
